1744 MADONNA DELL'OLMO: THE FIRST EVER (DEFINITIVE) MAP OF THE BATTLE

With a lot of efforts, comparing different maps and sources, trying not to get confused I realized a dream I had since a lot as Piedmontese: the final and definitive map of the Battle of Madonna dell'Olmo on 30th September 1744, in front of besieged town of Cuneo.

I present here my work that requestes - sincerly - a lot of efforts to accomplish.

I prepare also in bigger version so taht you can read the numbers.

here under the legenda of the numbers, Piedmontese/Austrian and French/Spanish

and here the complete map

I think for the genesis of the map and how I reached this result, I will prepare a different post.
Just to know as main sources
- "La Campagna Militare del 1744 nelle Alpi Occidentali e l'Assedio di Cuneo - Author Bartolomeo Giuliano. Biblioteca della Società per gli Studi Storici Archeologici ed Artistici della Provincia di Cuneo". This book with a lot of maps I found on ebay and immediatly bought. (1967)

- Attraverso le Alpi of Vittorio Turletti - Paravia - Year 1897 (bought on ebay)
- El Ejército Espanol tras la Guerra de Succesiòn (II) de Guerreros y Batallas of J. Notario Lòpez
- The Sardinian Piedmontese Army in the War of the Austrian Succession 1740 - 1748 of David A. Wilson by Helion & Company.

and others like this found on internet ... but I will explain in a next post.

1744 MADONNA DELL'OLMO ORDER OF BATTLE OF THE AUSTRO-PIEDMONTESE ARMY

It was simplier to get info about OOB of the Austro-Piedmontese Army at the Battle of Madonna dell'Olmo, thanks to the maniacal way of the Piedmontese to write down every details and to keep it for centuries.

So I got quite good info about the OOB o the Piedmontese (with some Austrian help) for that battle, allowing me (this was my aim) to prepare the first ever complete map of tha battle with details of all the troops. I think the job was worthing.
